This post includes a video by Charlotte Anderson of Carolina Honeybees showing how to install a nuc into a 10 frame hive. I like the way Charlotte explains installing a nuc in this video.
One of the things she talks about is being careful to not hurt the queen in the transfer and also introduces the idea of not giving the bees too much space to patrol. If the bees can’t patrol all of the space easily, you’ll get other pests — especially wax moths active. And it’ll be stressful for the bees.
She also talks about feeding the bees to get them going and reducing the entrance to help them protect their space.
