What’s Blooming July/August

There’s not a lot blooming right now and you may need to be feeding your bees.   It’s hot and bees are more defensive this time of year so if you are feeding, it’s best to do it late in the day and keep food inside the hive to prevent robbing

Clover is the most common plant blooming right now. In gardens there may be blooming plants like Anise Hyssop, mints, zinnias, cosmos, and sunflowers.   Some bees will work myrtle as well.

If you have a vegetable garden, it’s good to let vegetables and herbs that are done for the season to go to flower so the bees have additional sources of nectar and pollen.
