In the spring of 1973, Brady Mullinax championed getting the honey bee as the state insect of North Carolina. In September 1975, Kernersville celebrated its first Honeybee Festival in honor of the work Brady did. The Kernersville Honeybee Festival consists of over 80+ vendors and attracts well over 10,000 spectators. There are food, games, crafts, music, live demonstrations, and a kid’s area. Brady’s apprentice Craig Cagle can be found selling his homemade honey, in Brady’s original booth space in the park.
