Our third class of beginning bee school is this Sunday at 6 pm ET and we'll be talking about races of bees, lifecycle of bees, and some bee biology. To get started before the class, take a look at the post on the Lifecycle of Bees (there's a link below). This post includes 3 short videos that will make what we cover on Sunday easier to understand.
Also, you may want to take a look and listen to the webinar from NCSU on the different types of bees. This one may make more sense after the class, but it's worth a listen when you have time.
As a reminder the zoom link for the class is:

If you haven't attended classes, you can still come. It's free. You can learn more by clicking on the Bee School tab at our site.
Beekeeping Opportunity
The Downtown Greenway, a collaborative project of the City of Greensboro and Action Greensboro, is a planned 4-mile walking and biking trail. Three miles of the loop are complete. The loop includes 4 “cornerstone parks” and the one on the corner of Smith and Prescott Streets is called ”Meeting Place“ or “Tradition Cornerstone.” This cornerstone includes a large metal gazebo, a public edible orchard planted and maintained by the Greensboro Permaculture Guild, and a native plant installation. The latest plan is to install and maintain a bee hive at the Edible Orchard and the folks who are spearheading this project would like to have 2-3 volunteers who will follow them, learn how to maintain and be able to help as needed. New beekeepers are welcome. Anyone interested in volunteering to help should contact Laura Lorenz, Downtown Greenway Assistant & Campaign Manager by email at LLorenz@actiongreensboro.org or by phone at 336.387.8355. |
